Cambridge United returned to the Football League on Sunday afternoon when they defeated Gateshead at Wembley to add to their FA Trophy triumph at the same stadium and join Luton Town in League Two next season.
"I think you can see how important it is from the supporters' reaction today," said manager Richard Money. "We brought terrific numbers. Nine years out of the League is a long time."
With Fleetwood Town having seen off York City on Friday night, a goalless draw meaning Matty Blair's winner in the first leg proved decisive, Burton Albion survived a tough test at Southend on Saturday to draw 2-2 and win 3-2 on aggregate.
The Cobblers, meanwhile, have announced a home pre-season friendly against Sheffield United which will take place on Tuesday 22 July at 7.45pm and more good news on the squad front with Chris Hackett agreeing a new two-year contract.
