Northampton defender John Johnson has paid tribute to manager Ian Sampson after he guided the Cobblers to two wins in four days.
Sampson was under pressure at Sixfields after a horrendous run of six straight defeats in all competitions, but a change of tactics brought wins against Gillingham and Lincoln this week to lift spirits. Johnson - who scored the second goal in the 2-0 win at Sincil Bank on Tuesday - said: "The manager's been great. Considering he's supposed to be inexperienced he just keeps saying the right things and getting the lads up for the game.
"The last thing the lads wanted was for the gaffer to go. We know we've got a good set of lads and good team here. Everyone is in it together and we've got our just rewards. We've been playing some good stuff but the manager has mixed it up to get us to go more direct and it's paid off."
