After pushing Nottingham Forest all the way on Wednesday the Cobblers host beaten play-off finalists Reading at Sixfields with manager Gary Johnson confident that his stamp is being put on to a revamped squad.
“The way I want our team to play, we saw for 45 minutes in this game,” he said after the midweek clash. “So I’ve learned that the vision looks good and we are capable of doing it.
“I was pleased that we took on a Championship side that is expected to go into the Premier League this season and looked good against them."
Reading will send a strong side after returning from their pre-season training camp in sunnier climes. Boss Brian McDermott said: “The heat out in Slovenia would have been good in terms of our training.
“As soon as we got back we started looking at the Northampton game and getting prepared for that.”
