Ipswich boss ready to make changes

Ipswich, who knocked the Cobblers out of the competition last season to end a giant-killing run that had seen off Brighton, Reading and Liverpool, started their Championship campaign with a bang on Saturday by winning 3-0 at Bristol City.

“There will be a few changes and we will give some players who haven’t played a lot of football a game,” Jewell told the East Anglian Daily Times.

“It is up to them to make it difficult for me to leave them out in the future.

“We will give fringe players and young players the opportunity to play in a competitive game, but we want to win the game.

“Northampton certainly won’t be easy and we won’t take them lightly at all. We know it is going to be tough.”

Town boss Gary Johnson may be without skipper and namesake John but said ahead of the game: "Generally I don't tend to rest players for the sake of it. I like to try and keep that continuity.”
