Northampton Town captain Andy Holt has praised the centre-back pairing of Ben Tozer and Dean Beckwith, after deputising in that role.Holt, 32, started the season in defence, covering for players who were suspended or injured, but has since moved back onto the left-wing.
He told BBC Look East: "Playing at centre-half is more mental than physical. You have to be tuned in. Ben and Dean are exceptional - a lot better than me there."
He added: "Centre-half was new to me but we were short there. Dean looked after after me and helped out massively. But I played enough games there where I did OK, and if the manager needs, I'm happy to do that."
The Cobblers lie 15th in League Two, just four points away from the play-off positions. In December last season, they launched a run of just two defeats in 21 matches.
"Hopefully we can do the same again. If we do, we'll be well in the hunt," added Holt.
"There's a good set of lads here who thrive on confidence. If we can see the play-offs are in reach, and with a couple of good results, the lads will be buzzing."
