The 22-year-old American was given a deal by former Cobblers boss Stuart Gray after leaving collegiate soccer side Oakland Grizzlies last summer and came off the bench to score his first goal in professional football with an 85th-minute header.
Harris said: "I play because I love the game, money doesn't really bother me at all. I came over here with nothing, just a bag, ready to play.
"I hope I can be involved but I'm just going to take it one day of training at a time and then take my chances when I get in.
"I just love being here. I really enjoy training and playing, and I just want to keep pushing on."
