The 26 year old former Colchester player has signed a two year deal after a successful trial period.
"We're delighted to have signed Luke," said boss Stuart Gray.
"I've been impressed with his ability on the ball, he can use both feet and he's got a goal in him.
"He's not had a pre-season as such so I think he can get better but what I do like about him is that he can dominate games from midfield.
"I think he did that in our game against Luton and to an extent against West Brom but the pleasing thing is that he can still improve.
"He is the right age, he's got a decent record where ever he's been and I think he definitely adds something to the squad."
