"We've got to bounce back from Saturday's defeat and if we put in a similar type of performance on Tuesday night and maybe get that little break in front of goal I've got every confidence we'll get a result," Stuart Gray told the official website.
"Southend are a good side and against a team like that with proven quality you've got to try and get yourself ahead in the game. We had the chance to do that with the penalty but all credit to Andy Kirk, he put himself forward to take it and I'm sure if we'd have had another penalty in the game he would have taken that.
"Bristol Rovers will come here as underdogs but stats don't mean anything, its upto us to go out there and put on a performance. There was no lack of application from the players on Saturday but ultimately one lapse of concentration from a set play cost us the game.
"I think the supporters can see the effort and commitment the players are putting in, hopefully the style of football we are playing at the moment is entertaining the fans but as we all know football is a results business and we've disappointed the fans on Saturday by not getting a result."
