"I thought we deserved our win," he said.
"I felt we deserved a second goal and that would have allowed us to relax a little at the end. We hit the woodwork twice but we couldn't quite get that second goal to kill them off, but overall I thought we were deserved winners.
"They had one real chance, but their lad was on his heels and missed and I think we deserved that break. We looked tighter defensively than at Scunthorpe last week, and that was pleasing. We are in decent shape at the moment. There are a lot of points to go for in the next couple of weeks but I am pleased we are going into Christmas with a squad that is fully fit, Chris Doig apart.
Carlisle boss Gregg Abbott was not happy at all.
"It was probably our poorest performance since I've been in charge.
"I was absolutely delighted to take the job but these are the sort of things that you have to face every day head on and I will continue to do so. "It's what I'm about and we're certainly not talking about relegation at this stage - it's all about improving performances."
