Gray applauds Glanford battlers

"They've all got a belief and they all kept going. They showed the harder you work the luckier you get and also that if you work hard then you can often work your way back into a game whatever the score.

"Sometimes the coaching manual goes out the window. The goals have all been very different and if you'd told me it was going to be 4-4 before the game - and that it could have been 8-8 - I wouldn't have had it.

"I'm just disappointed we didn't win the game," continued Gray. "We've hit the woodwork twice but we can't afford to keep gifting teams goals.

"It was a nightmare for defenders with the conditions and we felt if we could have got the ball forward with a bit of quality then we could cash in against Scunthorpe's back four.

"We got punished for the mistakes we made and for a while it didn't look like we were going to punish them for the mistakes they were making.

"But then we pegged them back and capitalised on their fans' concerns."

A disappointeed Nigel Adkins blamed his defence for throwing away a seemingly comfortable 3 points.

"I thought going forward we were excellent," said the Iron boss.

"But we have got to defend much better than this. And if the personnel already here cannot do that, then I will have to bring some others in who can."
