Northampton's total of 42 goals was the joint-lowest (with bottom club Torquay United) in the division and the Cobblers top goalscorer in the league was midfielder Darren Carter with five.
A revolving door of strikers operated throughout much of the campaign as Aidy Boothroyd chopped and changed, caretaker boss Andy King made his own loan signings and then Chris Wilder reshuffled the pack once again.
And Wilder did get Town to offer more of a threat going forward, his 20 games in charge producing 22 goals at the right end and his decision to start youngster Ivan Toney producing real dividends towards the end of the campaign, as he netted three crucial goals in the wins against Dagenham & Redbridge and Oxford United.
***Update*** Wilder has announced his plans for those players out of contract this summer and has also moved quickly to sign Zander Diamond on a three-year contract after his release by Burton Albion.
