"The wind played a big factor and the pitch was very difficult to play on," said the Gillingham manager after Saturday's victory at Priestfield continued an excellent run of form from the Kent side.
"We kept the same 4-4-1-1 which we finished with last week but in the first half I think we started a little slow.
"We gradually got into it, had a little spell and began moving them around a bit and then got the goal. We had other opportunities and Cody (McDonald) could have easily had another hat-trick, the keeper has made a couple of good saves and second half.
"It was very difficult for everybody out there, for both teams, and the biggest thing for me is that we've ground out a result."
