Northampton midfielder Ryan Gilligan has admitted Ipswich manager Roy Keane was one of his childhood heroes. Keane dominated the Manchester United midfield for over a decade and ahead of the Carling Cup clash at Portman Road Gilligan is keen to get one over on the Irishman after the Cobblers almost beat his Sunderland side two years ago.
Gilligan said: "Roy Keane is a very organised manager and after experiencing a Northampton side a couple of years ago I know he will be desperate to put things right. "We are there to try and upset the odds again as we always do. "He played at the top of the game for many years and was a real leader.
When the chips were down he was someone you could look to to drag his team through and he is someone I definitely idolised. "You would be silly not to with everything he achieved and the wealth of experience he has."
