The 25-year-old made a good impression on loan at Sixfields earlier in the season before injury brought his time at the club to an end.
Brisley made nine League Two appearances for the Cobblers and was on the losing side only once, in the 2-1 defeat at Cambridge in mid-October.
Speaking after Brisley suffered the knee injury that halted his Northampton spell, manager Chris Wilder said: 'He's been superb in his period here.'
Leyton Orient recently signed the defender on a deal until the end of the season and he returned to action in last weekend's 1-0 victory at Portsmouth as Kevin Nolan's side boosted their play-off ambitions.
