Having taken over a side that had conceded heavy defeats in their past two games, new Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd was pleased to take a step in the right direction from his first match in charge.

He told the official NTFC website: "There were some real positives."

Warning of some tough games to come Boothroyd praised the effort of his players and promised 'the more we work on things in training the better we will get.'

Opposite number Steve Davis meanwhile was pleased with the way his side fought back from a first-half that left them on the backfoot.

He said: “I thought we were excellent. It was a very close game and we gradually got on top.

“We has a good talk at half-time and dominated the second-half. At the end I thought we were a bit unlucky not to get all three points.

“I’m really proud of their work ethic and the way they kept going. To come from 1-0 down was a really great effort."
