"It's all doom and gloom at the moment, but we can stop all that by winning the next game," the Malpas said.
"People are sick and tired of hearing me say we have played teams off the park and lost or got a draw, and then we go home and get beaten. They say he must be trying to pull a fast one, or pull the wool over our eyes.
"I just hope the fans that did turn up at Southend - who were fantastic - go back home and spread the word and let's get a bit of belief about the club."
