Manager Ian Sampson, who has been shortlisted for the League Two manager of the month award, told the club's official website: "Liam got through 45 minutes which was the plan.
"The game did him good, and it was also important to get football into some of the other players who have not played too much lately with so few reserve games."
Sampson has also confirmed that Luke Wilkinson has returned to Portsmouth after the end of his loan spell, while Michael Jacobs has joined Nuneaton on a work experience basis.
Meanwhile, youth-team player Luke Cray and goalkeeper Paul Walker have joined Banbury and Brackley respectively on similar deals.
