Crowe said that manager Stuart Gray played a big part in his decision to stay with Town.
"Stuart was a big factor in my decision to stay," Crowe told the club's official website.
"I know some of the players the gaffer is targeting and trying to bring to the club, and that shows the ambition here.
"It has been well reported that there was other interest in me and when any person is a free agent then it is only right to look at the options on the table, take your time and make a considered decision.
"I kept my options open until I felt the time was right to commit.
"Northampton Town, Stuart Gray and David Cardoza have been very good to me and now I have made my decision to stay here I am delighted we can put the speculation to bed and move on."
