John Johnson's strike was cancelled out seven minutes later by Shrimpers' top scorer Barry Corr as the Cobblers drew for the sixth straight match.
Crosby said: "I think for an away team to come here and get a point is a good result because I think Southend are a decent team and it is difficult to come here and win."
"The changes we made in the second half had an effect and perhaps with a bit of luck we might have gone on and nicked it, but I think a draw was a fair result because Southend were better than us in the first half.
"We are not thinking about getting another draw. What we need to do is to go 1-0 up and then strive for and get a second goal. We had a couple of opportunities to get a second goal and we did not take them, and that's been happening quite regularly."
