Northampton Town continued their good recent record at the East London home of Dagenham & Redbridge with an impressive League Two success on Saturday afternoon.
Striker Marc Richards showed with two first-half goals why Cobblers manager Chris Wilder moved so quickly to snap him up once Town's Football League status was confirmed.
The visitors, with deadline signings Ryan Cresswell and Ryan Watson making their debuts, were full of confidence throughout the opening 45 minutes with Ivan Toney, Kaid Mohamed and Joel Byrom all forcing saves from home goalkeeper O'Brien.
As expected the Daggers came out strongly after the break with veteran striker Jamie Cureton coming close but the Cobblers gave as good as they got going forward and eased to a first away win of the league season in front of 2,186.
Reaction: "I'm delighted to come away from home and produce a performance, in particular the first half with pace and power and we were really good going forward," said Wilder.
"From both parts of the game I thought we were excellent. I'd like to think the game was done and dusted in the first half and we just had to make sure we were professional and smart in the second half. That's what we did."
