Northampton Town's head of youth Geoff Harrop has left the club to take on a similar role at Torquay United after signing a three-year deal at Plainmoor.Harrop joined the Cobblers in 2006 and last season led the Under-18s to third in the Youth Alliance League.
Town chairman David Cardoza said: "This opportunity gave him the chance to work with the first team squad and be involved with the reserve team.
"That was not something we could offer. We're grateful for the work he's done."
He continued: "We are fortunate that we already have the experience of Malcolm Crosby and Sean Parrish working alongside Ian Sampson.
"Geoff felt it would be in his best interests to make the move."
In April, Cobblers youth team goalkeeper Paul Walker, midfielder Michael Jacobs and striker Alex Konstantinou signed professional contracts with the club.
"Geoff built on the work of Scott McLachlan and has helped keep the conveyor belt of young players coming through at Sixfields, helping to maintain the excellent reputation we have for producing players," added Cardoza.
