The 16-year-old is regarded as an extremely bright prospect for the future and a host of other clubs were reportedly interested.
Rangers, West Brom, Queens Park Rangers and Ipswich were all competing with Northampton for his signature.
However, the opportunity for early first-team exposure swayed the midfielder to link up with Stuart Gray's side at Sixfields.
A delighted head of youth Geoff Harrop told the club's official website: "To be honest he's probably one of the best signings I've made.
"He's a central midfielder and we've beaten off a lot of strong competition to bring him here.
"He's only 16 but he's got massive potential and I know the likes of Rangers and West Brom were desperate to sign him."
