The New Zealander impressed the Cobblers management after spending an extended period training with the club and has now put pen to paper on a professional contract with the club.
The deal was agreed after the youngster turned 18 and received his international clearance.
Manager Ian Sampson said: ""Michael is a talent.
"He has been with us for more than a year and now he has reached the age of 18 and we have received his international clearance we are able to sign him on a professional contract. He is a good player.
"He plays wide on the right hand side of midfield and he is one we are excited about. It is always rewarding when a young player signs a professional deal and we are very pleased to have secured Michael's services."
