After conceding five goals to Accrington in the reverse fixture at Sixfields it was the Cobblers turn to go nap as they continued their excellent run of form in January.
Ricky Holmes and a Marc Richards penalty set the visitors on their way before what looked like it would be a crucial few minutes in the story of the game as Ryan Cresswell was red-carded and Stanley pulled a goal back before half-time.
It was the Cobblers, however, who asked all the attacking questions after the break, goals midway through the half from Lawson D'Ath and Richards again settling the encounter.
D'Ath added a fifth to ensure a happy journey home for the travelling fans and possibly the Manager of the Month award for Chris Wilder.
