The Cobblers have not signed a player for money since Giles Coke arrived from Mansfield in July 2007 but after a Carling Cup win at Anfield, Cardoza has money to spend.
He told the Northampton Chronicle & Echo: "We're hoping to bring a few players in and we've got an offer out for someone and that is a cash offer for a striker.
"We're waiting to hear back from the selling club but they've had a written offer and we'll see what they think.
"We're on a much better footing now and the way that the club is run is that if we get any good news financially then we can put some money back into the team.
"Everyone here has worked hard to get us into that position in terms of the way the club is set up over the past couple of years. As a business we're doing the best that we can and if we find ways of getting any extra income then you will find that money will be spent on the team."
