In a hard fought game Northampton Town came from two goals down after sixty minutes to take a point at Southend United.
Goals from Akinfenwa on 60 minutes and Davies on 65 completed the come back after the Cobblers had looked dead and buried.
This point moves the Cobblers out of the bottom two places on goal difference and will be a big boost to under-fire boss Gary Johnson, who missed the match due to injury.
His number two David Lee told the official club website: "The lads really fought for the cause today and every single one of them was excellent."
Southend manager Paul Sturrock was left to rue two dropped points and, speaking to the Press Association, said: "I'm bitterly disappointed that we have not won the game having been 2-0 up. We lost concentration for the first goal and my players have not done the jobs they were asked to do."
