Cheltenham's midweek home defeat at the hands of Morecambe came after they got themselves up and running for the season against Swindon Town last weekend but manager Mark Yates was still pleased with his side's performance.
"The lads are gutted," he said "but they can't feel sorry for themselves and they have to go and perform again.
"If we play like that all season I will be delighted because we will win more than we lose."
Northampton also tasted defeat in midweek, at Bristol Rovers, despite a first goal from Bayo Akinfenwa since his return to the club.
“It’s going to take 10, 11, 12 games for us to get everything ultimately right, but we’re trying to get better with every game," the big striker told the Chronicle & Echo.
“At home the fans will be behind us and I’m sure on Saturday we’ll put in a much better performance than we did at Bristol. We are a young side but the ability is there, we just need to show it collectively. I’m sure we will do that.”
