The Bees, looking to build on their Boxing Day victory against Newport County, were beaten 2-1 at the Abbey Stadium but Allen praised an ‘excellent’ display afterwards.
Currently in 18th place in the League Two table, Barnet have won only one game away from home this season but their recent fixtures have certainly seen plenty of goals with the last six league matches producing 25, 12 for and 13 against.
John Akinde is certainly the dangerman having netted 10 already this season in the league including both goals against Northampton when the teams met in North London in early August.
That was the 30th meeting of the two sides with the last at Sixfields being a 2-0 win for the Cobblers in April 2013 which confirmed Barnet’s relegation out of the Football League.
