The Cobblers host Colin Cooper's side looking to bounce back quickly from Saturday's defeat at Newport County where a 3-2 scoreline didn't quite portray the home side's superiority over the majority of the game.
"We didn't deserve to get anything from the game," said manager Chris Wilder afterwards.
"It would have been a totally unjust result even though we had them rocking for the last 15 minutes."
Three straight league defeats for Hartlepool at the beginning of the season have been followed by an upturn in fortunes and they have seven points from as many games after the goalless draw against Tranmere Rovers at the weekend.
Cooper said afterwards: "We can compete with anyone in the league; what we have to do is be resolute, find a way to unlock the opposition defence and create some chances to win games."
On-loan Middlesbrough striker Charlie Wyke has made a good start to his second spell at Victoria Park, scoring twice in his first three starts.
