Holdsworth was appointed as the manager of Northampton's League Two rivals earlier this week after the departure of Kevin Dillon, leaving his previous post at Newport County.
He has moved quickly to snap up striker Peter Vincenti from FA Cup heroes Stevenage and the 24-year-old may make an immediate debut against Bury this weekend.
Holdsworth told BBC Surrey: "I've been rolling my sleeves up for two and a half years and now I want to roll them up again at a new club.
"It's a special time. I'm really excited by it, I really am."
