Volunteers and club officials worked hard on Friday to clear the pitch at the Store First Stadium of snow before a well-publicised 8:30am inspection on Saturday gave the game on verdict for Town fans travelling up from Lancashire.
Chris Wilder's side repaid their hosts with a quite brilliant performance, not only surviving but thriving after the loss of Ryan Cresswell to a red card just before half-time and scoring three more goals after the break.
Opposite number John Coleman claimed that his side were 'in the ascendancy' before the Cobblers' crucial third goal but told his club's official website: "It's disappointing that we seemed to lose heart, let them control the game. and didn’t even show enough to make the scoreline respectable."
