Bradford City striker Alan Connell is expected to be the first new signing of the Wilder era, Bantams boss Phil Parkinson calling it a 'good move' for a player who was set to be out of contract at the end of the season.
Wilder will clearly be backed by chairman David Cardoza in the final days of the transfer window but it is to be hoped that some kind of stability now returns to the club and the playing squad.
A busy summer of comings and goings has been followed by a bewildering number of loan deals and short-term arrivals making it hard for supporters to know who they will be watching in a Town shirt from one game to the next.
Having currently used 33 players in the campaign to date, that figure will surely rise again by the time Saturday's game at Cheltenham comes around.
Update: Not one, but two signings from Bradford have been confirmed on Thursday afternoon, 30-year-old striker Connell joining former loanee Ricky Ravenhill in moving to Sixfields.
And, later in the day, Town have also snapped up defender Leon McSweeney on a deal until the end of the season.
