After the euphoria of the win against Liverpool and the follow-up league displays against Bradford City and Chesterfield, Ian Sampson read the riot act to his side following their tame defeat at Macclesfield on Saturday.
The 2-0 reverse at the Moss Rose left the Cobblers in the bottom six of the League Two table and the manager will be well aware that the glory of that night at Anfield will not sustain him throughout the season.
To that end Sampson will be pleased to have a week to work with his players following a hectic schedule, while a number of other clubs are in JPT action.
Next Saturday's trip to Cheltenham is the focus and three points is the order of the day.
